Our finding indicates that the experimental estimation of the spin Hall angle and spin diffusion length of Pt should include both IEE and ISHE. Funders include George Soros, Reid Hoffman, and movie producers. When we apply our results to a NiFe/Pt bilayer, we find the contribution from the strong spin-orbit coupled interface, known as the inverse Edelstein effect (IEE), can be as large as or even larger than that from the NM layer. Courier Newsroom is a digital media company that operates news outlets and sponsors. By using our newly developed spin pumping formalism, we compute the relative contributions of these three sources of the induced electric voltages. The measured spin pumping efficiency and microwave thresholds needed for parametric excitation indicate that spin pumping is insensitive to the spinwave wavevector magnitude and propagation direction in the range 0 k 20 m 1. We show that the electric voltage or current from the spin pumping is not limited to the ISHE of the NM layer instead, there are two other previously unidentified contributions: one from the interface and the other from the FM layer. We observe clear signals, detected using the inverse spin Hall effect. Our finding indicates that the experimental estimation of the spin Hall angle and spin diffusion length of Pt should include both IEE and ISHE.ĪB - Spin pumping in a ferromagnetic (FM) and nonmagnetic (NM) metallic bilayer generates an electric voltage whose origins have been attributed to the inverse spin Hall effect (ISHE) in the NM layer. Hoffman ProLine PB1186 P20 Modular Solid Base, 100 mm H x 1799 mm W x 559 mm D, For Use With ProLine DD 1800 x 600 mm Modular Enclosure Frames, Steel. All the films are grown on Si (100) substrate at room temperature using ion-beam sputtering technique. When we apply our results to a NiFe/Pt bilayer, we find the contribution from the strong spin-orbit coupled interface, known as the inverse Edelstein effect (IEE), can be as large as or even larger than that from the NM layer. We report the tuneable spin angular momentum transfer (spin pumping) from Co 60 Fe 20 B 20 (CFB) amorphous alloy into the Ta heavy metal nanolayers.
